Alexander Classic Faces

The Alexander Doll Company was begun in 1923 by Madame Beatrice Alexander and her husband, Phillip Behrman. Their earliest dolls were made of cloth. By the 1930s composition was the material of choice, and by 1948 the company began making dolls in hard plastic. Madame was an artist and a designer, using the same molds to make literally millions of characters, each with individual characteristics.
