Product Description

Lizzie Andrew Borden July 19, 1860 – June 1, 1927 was tried and acquitted for the brutal murder of her father and stepmother in 1892 Fall River, Massachusetts. The case was a cause célèbre across the United States inspiring this jump rope song: “Lizzie Borden took an ax And gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, She gave her father forty-one.” 10” Cissette portrays the notorious Lizzy Borden dressed in a navy blue taffeta day dress with fitted bodice and pale pink striped silk forming a high collar edged with lace at the square neckline, long tight fitting sleeves with off white cuffs, gold button trim, and attached peplum. Her navy blue taffeta drindle skirt is topped with a matching pale pink striped sash and pink ribbon trim. She is wearing off white with pantaloons and petticoat edged in lace. Her ankle boots are brown with ribbons. A cameo adorns her throat and she carries the infamous ax. From Madame Alexander’s 2015, Women of History, Couture, Fashion, 10" Cissette collections.
